Sci-Fit's Alpha Lipolic Acid (ALA), also known as thioctic acid, is a disulfide compound that is a cofactor in vital energy producing reactions in the body furthermore, it is a powerful antioxidant. Alpha Lipolic Acid has been shown to increase ATP production in the mitochondria due to its role in the oxidation of pyruvate and alpha-ketoglutarate, leading to higher energy production.
Alpha Lipoic Acid is extremely neuroprotective. In Germany, Alpha Lipoic Acid is an approved treatment for diabetic neuropathy. Moreover, there is work suggestive of some mild benefits in the treatment of several neurodegenerative disorders, including but not limited to, Parkinson's Disease, Alzheimer's Disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis and Huntington's Disease.
